Easter Shoot

The Isle of Man's Easter Shooting Festival

The Commonwealth Shooting Federation (European Division) Championships 2013

In September 2013 the Isle of Man hosted the Commonwealth Shooting Federation (European Division) Championships for the sixth time. Many international competitors including several Commonwealth Games medallists arrived at the Isle of Man Shooting Clubs modern 50 metre range for this prestigious event from Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, England, Scotland, Wales and of course, there were the local Manx entries. In the enthralling men’s 50 metre prone class the victor was Northern Irishman Sam Kelly on 203.9, closely followed by Isle of Man junior shooter, Ben Kelly – just .3 in arrears on 203.6. The Isle of Man had further success in the 50 metre prone women’s event, when Lara Ward won on 591 with 30X centres from The Welsh shooter Sian Corish on an identical score but just 28 X centres. Continuing the local success, Harry Creevy and Michael Duncalf

were victorious in the 50 metre prone pairs posting a combined score of 1179 from Ken Bowley and Mark Szymankiewicz on 1178. In the Ladies pairs, Sarah Henderson and Sarah Brown (Scotland) had a significant win by 8 points (1175) from the Manx pair of Rachel Glover and Suzanne McKnight on 1167. The 3P Men’s final was won by Englishman Jason Burrage posting 435 from Lee Rousel (Guernsey) on 430.6. A terrific display of 3P shooting came from Jenny McIntosh (Scotland) in the Ladies event when she recorded a score of 455.1 from Jenny Corish (Wales) who posting 446.5. This competition also involves a class of Non-Medal Development shooters and there were some excellent results in this class too. The use of the Isle of Man Shooting Club’s new electronic targets proved to be a major success.
